Women in Saudi society

Every country have different ways to govern. I grew up in a country where womens start voting in 1953, that is a long time ago, for me. Now womens can vote and they can have a lot of others civil rights. I was reading about a Saudi Arabia. I was really impressed when I read that womens have only a few social rights.  Saudi Aarabi is a very religious country. Religion is important in peoples life. In Saudi Arabia womens cannot go out without a man or without a man approval. Saudis consider male guardianship a right of women. That is because of the religion they have.  Is required for womens to avoid men and to cover most of their bodies. Women must wear head covering and full black cloak. They cannot vote. Women cannot marry non-Muslim men unless they obtain official permission. We have a lot of different types of cultures and religions. All the things that I had learned about the womens in Saudi Arabia make me think about the differences that we have as a countries.

Why I Became a Mormon

I was raised in the Catholic Church and I never went to church growing up.  I only went for special occassions like parties, quinceaneras, birthdays, baby blessings, baptisms and for First Communion.  Most of my family in Mexico is Catholic and it's just what everyone does.  I never really questioned it.  My mom never forced me to go to church.  She asked me if I wanted go with her but if I said no it was ok.  But she didn't go very much either.  I think most of Mexican people are Catholic and it part of the tradition.  They are very faithful but they don't do the right thing.  They don't keep the commandments.  They just have faith but they don't act on it.  I didn't really think about what was right or wrong because nothing was really prohibited.  I liked the times I went to church--I liked the music but it wasn't enough for me.  When I came here, I knew that my dad's family was Mormon, and I had gone to church with my grandmother in Mexico when I was younger.  I liked it, especially the Primary because it was pretty and big.  It was different.  When I moved here, I went to church with my grandma because she went to a Spanish-speaking church.  I liked it because it was in Spanish but I decided to go in English because my family told me that it would help me learn English.  I started taking the missionary lessons and learned many new things like differences between God and Christ, commandments, Young Women values, law of chastity, Word of Wisdom and other teachings.  A few weeks later I decided to get baptized because I liked the church and I believed in the things they taught.  Since then, over one year ago, I have learned more in-depth about those things and I think I took the right decision because it changed my life.

If I Had One Million Dollars....

Recently I read the book Pay It Forward.  It made me think about what I would do if I could live without worry about money.  So if I had one million dollars, here is what I would do.  First I would travel to London because I want to visit there.  I would see everything.  Something else I would do is donate money to family and friends who need help.  I would also take my little sister to Disneyland because she loves it there.  I don't think one million dollars would last as long as I wanted.

If You Ever Want to Dye Your Hair Red, Don't Do It!

I decided recently that I needed to rebel  against my parents who will not let me drink, smoke, get a tattoo, pierce wierd body parts or practice making babies.  So they only thing left for me to do was dye my hair a really wierd color.  I went shopping when my parents weren't there to stop me, and brought a special box of hair dye to my house.  I came out of my room, and showed my step-mom the box, and asked her so sweetly in an especially melodious voice if she would please assist me in achieving a new look.  She took the box and looked at it silently for a moment before saying that she wouldn't recommend the color purple.  She instead suggested that I choose a nice blonde or even a burgundy to compliment my black hair.  But no....  I needed to be rebelious and show my true maturity, so I decided to tone it down by going with a rainbow red, as in the primary color.  I had a large section of my underneath dyed but no--I needed more, so we added striped in my bangs.  The pricetag--a mere $70 and the wrath of my father when I returned home.  And my grandmother--we won't even talk about how she was going to kick me out of the family.  About two weeks later, my red was gone and it turned orange--ugly orange.  So now I'm all black again and I probably will stay that way for a while (at least until the gray comes)!

My First Date in the United States

I  went on my first US date in the spring of this year, and I didn't like it.  It was a blind date to my senior prom.  My parents find the boy because I was too scared to ask somebody and my parents said I shouldn't miss my prom.  At first, I didn't want to go because I didn't have anyone to go with.  After I got set up for the date and was convinced, I decided to go.  We went shopping, and I tried on a ton of dresses before I found a peach one that I really liked.  We got new shoes and jewelry and a clip for my hair.  And we found somebody to do my hair.  I looked for some hairstyles online and found one that I liked.  When I got to the person's house who was going to do my hair, we decided to do a different style with lots of barrel curls, and I really liked it.  Then we hurried to my house because my date was already there with his mom because she had to drive him.  Because he couldn't drive on his own for another few days, my parents had to drive us.  We went out to dinner at the Melting Pot and the food was good.  That was the only part good.  We danced a little at the Capitol, but it was very crowded.  He didn't know how to dance, and that was the worst part.  So I learned that dates don't always go the way you want them to, but you can still have a good time.

My Halloween Costume....

Halloween is an excited holiday. For me the most excited part is that we have to wear something funny. For this past Halloween I was excited about my costume. I always wanted to have a pizza costume. I wanted to have it for the past Halloween but it was not possible. My second option was a Gypsy costume. I really like gypsy things. I think Gypsy are interesting. In my family we had a Halloween party on October 30 and I did not wear something because I had not a costume. The 31st my family wanted to go out for candies, so I have to wear something. I found some clothes and I made a Gypsy costume. I was happy because I did look like a Gypsy.

College Succes

How to be success in college?  That is a very popular question that most of college students have. When we start going to college we want to be the best students.  College is a big change in our lives. It is a step that is difficult to take and we do not want to take that step and do it wrong. Attend to college, take notes on every class that you go, and set your goals are some ways that you can be successful in college.

The first way to be successful in college is to attend to classes.  When we were kids our parents made all of our decisions. Now we make all of our the decisions. Attending classes, sometimes is not an easy decision. For most of the teachers attendance is very important and part of your grade is attending classes. Being in college is very serious. We should be responsible for the decisions that we make and we have to make sure those decisions are the right ones.

The second way that you can be successful in college is to take notes. Some important reasons why you should take notes are that they help you to concentrate in class, prepare for a test, and remember information. When we take notes we do not have to write all the words that our teachers say, we just have to write the main idea and the supporting details in our own words. Taking notes is not boring and it helps you a lot. There are different forms of note-taking. You can draw diagrams, flowcharts, margin notes, and highlighting. If you start to take notes you will see the differences.

Another way that you to be successful in college is set your goals. Goals are something that you want to achieve. Setting your goals provided you direction in life, clarify education plan, and gives you direction for the future. Short- term goals and long term goals are the two types of goals that you can use to achieve your goals. A short-term goal refers to the goals that you want to achieve soon. An example of that is finishing your homework. A long-term goal is something that you want to achieve at some later day. An example of that is passing a class. Every time you are setting your goals you have to make sure you state what you will do and when you will accomplish it.

Everyone wants to be success in life. I believe that there are a lot of different ways that we can be successful. To be successful in college means a lot. If we use some of the ways that help us to be a success in college, life will be easier.
